Saturday, 9-12pm - Monona Room

Dreaming in Maille Bracelet
Sue Ripsch

The Dreaming in Maille Bracelet is a dressy piece of jewelry that makes a statement. It combines sterling silver jump rings with crystal rondelles. The crystal rondelles with their sparkle and shine add “bling” to the bracelet. This project utilizes both bead stringing and chainmaille techniques. It is a wonderful bracelet to make and is comfortable to wear.
Please bring 1 pair chain nose pliers; 1 pair flat nose pliers; 1 pair of crimp pliers; wire cutters; clasp; beading mat; task lamp (optional)

Saturday, 8-2pm - Wingra Room

Introductory Metalsmithing Workshop
Kay Rashka

Learn the techniques and tools needed for basic jewelry metals fabrication.
Class project is student choice but demonstrations will include sawing flat silver sheet, forging wire, sanding, doming, stamping, piercing, riveting, using flex shafts and polishing.  Other demos will include making jump rings, head pins, earring hooks and shepherds hook clasps. Tools provided for use in workshop.  Copper provided for practice work and flat sheet silver and wire will be available for purchase. Students can bring beads (hole size at least capable of stringing 0.018inch diameter wire) which may be incorporated into a pair of earrings. Silver Earring Workshop
Kay Rashka

Have you ever wanted to learn how to create a handmade pair of silver earrings? Attend this class and wear your earrings home! Students will fabricate one of the two pair of earrings provided in photos. Fabrication techniques will include sawing flat silver sheet, forging wire, filing, piercing, doming, making ear wires and head pins and final polishing. Beaded Kumihimo
Debbie from Fat Cat Beads

Learn to make this beautiful rope of seed beads using a popular Japanese braiding technique.
Please bring a Kumihimo disc, thread holders (I will have both items available for purchase) Size 11 or size 8 seed beads and silk thread.
Pre-string beads on thread prior to class. You will need 8 silk cords around 4ft long and pre string a foot of beads on each cord.

Linked Triangle
Dawn's Hide & Bead Away/ Laurel Kubby  

Learn to create two linked three-dimensional triangles using peyote stitch and Delica seed beads. Turn this structure into an earring. Only one of the earrings will be made in class. Experience with peyote stitch is recommended. Cost of the class includes all materials including precious metal findings and written instructions to take with you.

Faux Glass Embellishments
with Wisconsin artist Sandi Obertin

During this class you will have the opportunity to work with an amazing art material that looks like stained glass! It is textured on one side and smooth on the other side. This faux glass art material is actually plastic and can be cut easily with a pair of scissors! It is fun and easy to work with! And, best of all the results are stunning! PLEASE SEE Sandi's representative samples.
This class is technique driven and packed full of useful design information. Sandi will share her secrets for creating awesome dicrohic glass effects that are perfect for jewelry making and ornament design.
Students will receive a class pack of supplies to use during the class and may take the leftovers home to create additional pieces.

Students please bring a sturdy pair of scissors (small and large blade sizes, if possible).

All additional supplies including some jewelry findings will be provided. Students may create accent pieces during the class and finish the pieces as time allows during the class or take home the finding home to finish the pieces later.

NOTE: Students may need to pick their art pieces up later in the day.

Cold Connections and Resin

Who said cold connections were reserved for metal work. Students will learn to make wonderfully textured sheets and molds out of resin. Using basic cold connections to facet resin pieces, other objects or metal to create amazing pieces. We will cover finishing techniques to drill, rivet, connect and sand. You will leave with a variety of finished pieces, extra elements and inspiration for future projects.
The class kit includes bezels, mold material, and other misc paper and objects to use in class. Additional kits will be available for purchase after class.

Diva or Wild Woman

Turn heads with your creative expression. Is she a Diva or a Wild Woman? The decision is yours when, you create your lovely pin or pendant. Let your imagination go wild.
Please bring an assortment of 18, 20 and 24 gauge wire. Charms, shoes, bags, holiday decoration, old buttons, odds and ends of beads. You will need 1 larger center bead for the ladies body and 1 suitable for her “noggin” for each lady you want to make. Small spacers are great for the arms and legs. We should have time to made 2 Divas. The cowboy diva has a disc folded in half and a cowboy hat charm. You will need 3 long eye pins for each lady-depending on which ones you want to bring. Bring 3 pin backs as well as your beading tools.

Bezel, Bezel Presented by Crystallized
- Swarovski Elements

Why buy bezels to fill when you can create your own bezels out of resin. Students will learn about making bezel molds, by using found objects, rubber stamps and clay. Bezels can then be layered including adding other objects, materials and color additives and then enhanced with Swarovski Elements. An emphasize will be placed on finishing techniques using a dremel or flexshaft to sand, drill and polish. You will leave with an eclectic group of pendants highlighting some of the great ways resin can be used and a working knowledge of what it takes to create with resin.
The class kit includes bezels, mold material, and other misc paper and objects to use in class. Additional kits will be available for purchase after class.

Jeweled Byzantine Bracelet

The Jeweled Byzantine Bracelet is a versatile piece of jewelry. Depending upon your choice of bead, pearl or crystal, it can be elegant enough for evening, or understated enough for everyday wear. This bracelet is fun and easy to make.
Supplies Required by Students: 1 pair chain nose pliers; 1 pair flat nose pliers; 1 pair of crimp pliers; 1 pair of wire cutters; forty-eight 4mm round crystals, pearls or beads in any combination of your choice; clasp; beading mat; task lamp (optional)

Pinwheel Pendant
Adele Kimpell of Bead Dreamers

This project grew out of my passion for creating flowers with seed beads and thread. This project creates a soft, lacy looking pendant that resembles a pinwheel or ribbon candy. The pendant is worked in diagonal peyote. The necklace is worked in Ndebele stitch with a „float bead‟ between each Ndebele column. The necklace is joined with a Mag-Loc magnetic clasp. Otherwise, it is worked entirely with a needle and thread and requires no other tools.
Please bring scissors and a personal task lamp if desired.

Crystal Rope
Adele Kimpell of Bead Dreamers

A soft and supple filled netting bracelet constructed with Miyuki charlottes and Swarovski crystals. This project works up quickly in a simple netting stitch where every other row three crystals are added instead of the charlottes. The entire project is worked with needle and thread with an easy to attach snap clasp.
Please bring a scissors and a task lamp if desired.

Two Drop Peyote Bracelet
Dawn’s Hide & Bead Away/Karen Kubby

Learn a variation of peyote stitch, an off loom bead weaving technique. This bracelet has its embellishments woven into the piece as it is being made. Techniques for finishing the bracelet edges and adding the clasp and closure will be shared. You will learn how to use an unique button as a clasp. This is a fun and fast way to construct a woven bracelet. No previous experience necessary. Intermediate beaders will appreciate the finishing techniques shared.

All materials and written instructions for you to keep are included in the cost of this class.

Artistic Metal Adornments
with Wisconsin artist Sandi Obertin

Students are sure to have fun creating mini-mixed media works of art and learn lots of great techniques. We will be working with metal tags and Sandi's Rubber Nature Decal Designs as well as a wide variety of unique art materials. *PLEASE SEE Sandi's representative samples. (Please NOTE: We will be creating individual accent pieces. Necklace beading is not a part of this class. Some of Sandi's samples show what can be done and how you might use your accent adornments.)
Students will have the opportunity to create up to six individual professional looking art pieces during the class or take the art materials home to complete their pieces.

Students please bring a pair of scissors and a pair of tweezers.
All art supplies will be provided. (NOTE: Jewelry findings for pendants and earrings will be available upon request.)

Pins are back-not tiny ones but, Look at Me Pins. What a great way to use some left over beads, buttons, something special from grandma’s little surprise box or left over wire.

Please bring an assortment of 18, 20 and 24 gauge wire. Charms, old buttons, odds and ends of beads, small copper balls . Bundle of Sticks: 18 g wire, 24 g copper wire and small (size 3) copper balls and a pin back. My Heart is for You: 18 g wire, 24 g wrapping wire with an assortment of charms, buttons, seed beads, broken jewelry parts and pin back. Xmas Wreath: yours doesn’t have to be for the holidays. 18 and 20g wire for the body and 24 g for accents. Assorted beads and holiday charm. Pin backs and Beading tools.

Copper Relief Jewelry
with Wisconsin artist Sandi Oberin

During this exciting technique driven class you will learn to create relief textures by hand tooling and incising designs into copper pieces. You will learn "hands-on" to how to determine the shape and size of your works; how to add color to your designs and how to add bead accents, charms, jewels and jewelry findings to create finished pieces.
In this class you will be creating individual focal pieces... pendants and pins. Later you may decide to use your pendants to accent bead necklaces as Sandi has done in some of her samples. *PLEASE SEE Sandi's representative samples. (NOTE: We will not be creating beaded necklaces during this class.)
You will have the opportunity to create up to six pins/and or pendants during the class or take home the supplies to complete your pieces.

All art supplies will be provided.

Not chainmaille, the other wire work, Braiding. This awesome braided bangle has the clasp bead as the focal. That one special bead you needed to find a home for has found its podium.
Please bring 18 gauge non-tarnish silver Artistic wire (or wire of your choosing), 20 gauge matching wire, 15mm focal bead or something you are comfortable with, beading tools to include round nose and flat nose pliers and cutters. I will provide the other specialty items needed.

All skill levels welcome however, some wire work is recommended.

Vertabrae Chainmaille Bracelet in Argentium Sterling Silver

Students will be working with Diane's hand coiled, cut and polished Agentinium sterling silver jump rings to weave this bracelet. Students may complete this bracelet in class.
Argentium Sterling silver jump rings and step-by-step illustrated instructions will be provided.

Supplies to Bring: Single or double strand clasp.  Two pair of flat nose, smooth jaw, jewelry pliers.  Beading mat, magnifiers.

Blown Glass Ornaments
The Vinery

Learn how easy it is to make fabulous blown glass ornaments in this fun class. Each student will be given 10 glass tubes to fill with their favorite colors of glass and heat at the torch. You will then blow the warm glass into a one-of-a-kind ornament (no they don't all work out, but you are guaranteed to get several beauties).

Beginning Bead Making
The Vinery

This class is intended for students with no beadmaking or hot glass experience. Emphasis is on learning how to use the Hot Head beadmaking torch to make glass beads. Basic skills such as winding the glass onto the mandrel, surface decoration, and several bead shapes will be practiced. Please wear long, cotton pants, and closed-toe shoes (Please, no sandals.) Class fee includes all materials.
